SENIOR SPELLING BEE

               Senior Citizen Spelling Bee participants are needed for the Spelling Bee planned for the ASCOG Senior Health Fair Day, Tuesday, May 13 at the Stephens County Fairgrounds. 
               If you live in Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Grady, Jefferson, McClain, Stephens and Tillman counties and you are 60 years of age or older, you are eligible to participate.  Three places will be awarded and 1st and 2nd place will compete in the State Senior Spelling Bee held May 20, 2014, at the Oklahoma State Conference on Aging in Norman, Oklahoma.

Lawton Area Senior Summit March 26

Southwestern Medical Center will host The Senior Summit on Wednesday March 26, 2014 from 1130am thru 100pm in the Centennial Room.

The presentation is titled, "Who Will Care....For Me?" by Dr Brian Birdwell, MD.
 
Topic will highlight the differences between insurance "coverage" and actual "care", concerns over which we are finding is the greatest source of anxiety among seniors and their families and caregivers.
 
Who will see me when I am sick or worried about something that seems to be happening?
 
Who will see to it that the best preventative care is consistently applied?
 
Who will recommend and coordinate specialty care and hospitalization?
 
Who will help make decisions as we come to the crossroads of not driving anymore, cognitive decline and competency, end of life decisions making, etc.?
 
Who has enough time to tend to these issues, explain them to me and my loved ones?
 
In other words, where and from whom will I receive Primary Care?
