The News from Dibble Senior Center

Dibble Senior Citizens

Greetings to the Seniors of the Dibble Community!!!

Last week was busy, with a welcomed large truck on Thursday from the Regional Food Bank.  We could use help on Thursdays as we need bag ladies to repack food.  Big thanks to all who participated; we could not do it without you.  Two of our regulars on Thursday, Lonnie and Louise Montgomery, are still out with illness.  Get well soon!!!  Big thanks to Spencer’s in Blanchard for our desert and salad needs.

Our sick list is shortened, with Lanore Walkup still not doing well.  Also, Robert Noisy is improved.

A serious death of national concern must be noted this week, as reported by the Oklahoma Observer.  The real “Norma Rae”, Crystal Lee Jordan, died at age 68 after a battle with her insurance company, which delayed her treatment until was too late.  Seems to have a familiar ring, doesn’t it?  She was the inspiration for the 1979 film with Sally Fields, “Norman Rae”.

Seems strange, as our government is debating that issue now.   Looks to me like they are all roller skating in a cow pen.  The only problem is, they do the skating and seniors do the suffering!!!

A few seniors gathered at a fast food place recently to get a little snack and couldn’t help but observe the person at the counter.  I know that kids are busy doing their own thing these day, but this one seemed a little extreme. This fellow taking my order had both ears pierced with bolts in them, a nose ring, 2 eyebrow things, a small golf ball bobbing around on his tongue and, of course, lots of tattoos!!  He looked like he got in a fight with a nail gun and the nail gun won!!  Then I wondered how he cleaned those things?  Clorox?  Did he clean them before handling food?  It reminded me of an old Dylan song that sort of went “what’s the difference in being different now, when being different now is all the same”.  The times, they are a changing!

All for now…………………..
