On this date, in 1978, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat met with U.S. President Jimmy Carter.  They met at Naval Support Facility Thurmont, which was nicknamed this, after the father and grandson of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
